About the Author

John M Dent BSc (Eng.)

The author is a retired engineer who used Physics as a tool of the trade, working in the aviation industry. He spent most of his career at the Rolls-Royce Flight Test Establishment at Hucknall Airfield near Nottingham, UK. At one stage he was Head of Department dealing with Fire Precautions and Heat Transfer in installations of Rolls-Royce engines in many different aircraft. The Earth's atmosphere being considered in the report is the space in which those aircraft operated.
